According to a recent survey report by the Pew Research Center, a quite shocking fact has surfaced. The report says that around 15% of Americans which constitute around 11 million Americans don't use the internet. Most of them gave reasons as they just don't need it.
Well, the majority of these people are those of the age group of 18 years or older. However, there are different reasons of not using the internet for them.
Out of this 15% population, most of them believe that internet is not so easy to use, or may be they find it difficult to use it. So, majority of them say that they don't find it relevant al all to use it. They further pointed out as how they struggle while using the World Wide Web.
The survey report which came out on this Wednesday (25 September 2013) says that they don't like using internet on any device, be it a cellphone or Personal Computer. Out of these non internet users, around 32% say that it is very difficult for them to go on-line or they find it hard how to go on line. Not only this, they also showed their worries about increasing spam, hackers and spywares.
According to Pew, one of the main reasons of these people not showing their interest using it is that they frequently come across with some technical snags while using the internet. However, 48% of these find that internet is not relevant to them at all.
There are some other issues as well like one in five cited out price related reasons. Some of them even pointed out usability issues.
If we look out the actual reasons or cause of this issue, then we will come to know that most of them are still living below poverty line or illiterate or unaware of the fast growing technology.
The use of internet strongly correlate with many other things like age group, household income, education, interest etc. That is one of the reasons while out of the 15% american s, 44% of them are in the age group of 65 years or older, who do not use internet at all.
The fact came out when Pew actually interviewed as many as 2,252 people over the telephone about the reasons of not using internet. The interview was completed this year on May 19. So, isn't it really shocking that one one hand the people are becoming digitally addicts and on the other hand we still find those who are just not interested using World Wide Web.
So, specially those who are less educated with no high schools or education qualification like degree or diploma either and are living in rural areas are the ones who mostly fall in this bracket of non internet users.
In a similar report, it was found that these people while facing with so many issues, having an annual income of $30,000 or less. That's why around 6% non internet users pointed out that its too expensive to use internet, although they might not be facing any other issues.
As per Pew, 44% of adults who are offline, turn to their families or relatives to discuss issues related to the internet. However, another 19% of non users still think of owning a computer and then an internet connection would cost them too costly.

If we talk about the dependencies of internet in our daily lives, then it would be a bit hard to imagine our lives without internet. Today, its not uncommon if someone before sleeping at night wakes up to say good night to his or her dear ones or if someone is busy in updating his status on social networking site like Facebook.
